OK, This one is a little wacky a little nutty, and might require me to break it down a bit… Bring on the Snark!
“I owned the web site ibidfree.com Americas #1 FREE Auction Web Site but was forced to sell it because the people i hired to build a web site from the ground up put it on a template and when i was ranking 4 on Googles in the first year because i had people holding ibidfree.com signs outside of the Today Show and handing out flyers and live events in NY,CT,MA the site just kept crashing because we had too much traffic for a cheap template so needless to say i had to sell the whole idea.”
It’s a shame the number of sites that had to be sold because of having too much load. Digg and Ebay must’ve gone through any number of owners until they were stable. Don’t get me started on twitter, they must go through a new owner every week.
I am curious.. why did you keep up your gurrella marketing campaign if you were having performance issues?
“I’m also the guy who came up with the idea for Stubhub.com the original idea was Priceyourseats.com but i told them my idea and they went ahead and created Stubhub.com.”
You know, the same thing happened to me. I was sitting in a bar with these guys named ev and biz dicussing a 140 character a message blogging system… Next thing I know Twitter arrives.
The main thing I learned is never, ever disucss your ideas with someone else unless there’s an NDA in place. I’m sure you feel the same way…..
“Now i have another idea that i think will be very big This idea is to hook people up on dates to live events Concerts, Sports, Theater, Movies anything with a ticket involved. Take out the Dinner Date and replace it with a Live Event with people around and if you like the person then go to Dinner. “
